Wimpenny Place

A Peaceful Hideaway

Wimpenny Place is part of Burnlee House which was built in the very early 1800s by the Wimpenny family and was originally a farm and stood as the only building, along with the pub as the only properties in the area, locally known as Burnlee. The house owned much of the surrounding land. During the World War II it became a refuge for evacuees and then in the 50's was converted into a residential home. We still have the original sign, ‘Burnlee House, Home for Ladies and Gentlemen’. The house stood empty for a few years until it was bought by the previous family who brought up their four children here. Wimpenny Place is an annexe to the building and comprises a mezzaninie style apartment. There is a king sized sleigh bed, with seating area and views of the valley. Downstairs there is a bespoke breakfast bar and an equipped kitchen. There is an adjacent fully tiled shower room and toilet facilities.
